I found this collection of saved threads in an old sewing box which I bought at a market in France. The care and attention that has gone into saving such small amounts of thread, reminds me of how thrifty we once were with materials.
How interesting that it was found in France but the newspaper is English. I know a lot of people who still store yarns and threads in this fashion. So much more practical than the silly little cards available commercially
All the offcuts of sewing threads that I have I put in a jar and incorporate them into felting or some embroidery, sometimes i just look at them in the jar, so many colours, so pretty! I love the way they are wound onto little bits of paper and card here though. Its like displaying little treasures.
Hi Abigail, yes dont you just love them? I unwrapped one of the bits of paper and it was a hand written note all in French, was v intrigued to know what it said!
